Genealogy 
Marshalltown Public Library maintains a small collection of local and family history as well as local newspaper archives on microfilm. Our library holds copies of the Marshall County census beginning in 1850 and Marshall County cemetery records. The library has microfilm readers and reader/printers.
Local history materials are available during the library’s open hours. A volunteer genealogist assists people visiting the library at no charge. Phone (641-754-5738), mail (105 West Boone Street, Marshalltown, IA 50158), and e-mail research requests are billed at $15.00 per hour ($15.00 minimum) as well as minimal charges for copying and postage.

Computers 
Internet
Marshalltown Public Library offers 24 free Internet stations, available on a first-come first-served basis. There are eighteen internet stations in the Reference area that may be used for up to one hour per day, in addition to three 15-minute Internet stations. Six more internet stations in the Youth Services area are available in 30 minute increments. Internet use is limited to one hour per day.
Free wireless Internet service in the library is donated by Dynamic Broadband and Mediacom.
Word Processing
Two PCs are available with Microsoft Office for word processing and desktop publishing. These PCs are available on a first-come first-served basis.
